The Pacific Medical Research Foundation (PMRF) is a non-profit (501(c)3) organization located in Palo Alto, California, on the Peninsula south of San Francisco. PMRF is dedicated to the study, treatment, education, and eventual cure of diabetes and its physical complications.
The Foundation's mission is to explore new clinical treatments for diabetes and its physical complications, and to educate physicians, health care professionals, and people with diabetes about how to manage and successfully live with the disease.
There are 20.8 million children and adults in the United States, or 7% of the population, who have diabetes. While an estimated 14.6 million have been diagnosed, unfortunately, 6.2 million people (or nearly one-third) are unaware that they have the disease.
